Chief of Defense Forces General Mwathethe has insisted that elections will go on as planned, despite some politicians vowing to disrupt the process.

He has also warned politicians in the Coast region against calling for cession, further saying that the current political situation needs to be handled well, and such utterances can cause disharmony.

His sentiments come after some Kilifi leaders talked about cession during a rally in Rabai, if the planned October 26 polls go on as planned.

“Our leaders’ utterances should preach peace and respect. Our leaders are not careful with their words, which is very risky for Kilifi and the country at large,” he said.

“A lot has been said about the forthcoming elections, I want to insist that the polls will go on as planned as everyone has a right to vote or not to. On 26th we will go to the polls, if you want to, go and vote, if you do not want to, no one will force you,” he added.

This come with only three days to the polls slated for next week on Thursday, even though there are uncertainties owing to the current political environment.

NASA has insisted that they will not allow for any voting, until their irreducible minimums are met.

Last week, Roselyn Akombe resigned as one of the commissioners or the IEBC, casting more doubts on whether or not the elections will go on as planned.
