Alfa Grain Millers Company Limited, a maize milling company which produces “Kifaru Maize Meal” has launched a sister company in Athi River.
The company that has been in existence for the last five years with its headquarters based in Nairobi’s Embakasi opened its newly established milling company to produce wheat flour called “Kifaru Ngano” on Thursday.
Speaking during the launch, the company’s Managing Director Mohamed Khalif, said the wheat milling company had been established due to high demand from consumers.
He said the consumption of their maize meal was very high, a motivation that also prompted the diversification into wheat milling.
Khalif disclosed that the mill produces 300 tonnes of maize floor daily with the wheat one targeted to produce 150 tonnes daily.
He said the company was committed to ensuring that needs of consumers were promptly met as it expanded, with intentions of devolving to all counties across the nation thereby creating more job and business opportunities to Kenyans.
The maize milling company has over 500 employees apparently while the newly established wheat miller has over 150 but intends to employ more.
The MD however lamented that cost of production was very high hence called for the government’s intervention to ensure that cost of living among Kenyans went down.
