A text emanating from nominated senator Millicent Omanga over the release of estranged Kenyan businessman Don Bosco has been condemned by a section of online users.
On Wednesday evening, Omanga broke news about alleged release of Mr. Don Bosco Gichana, who has been languishing in a Tanzanian jail.
"I want to thank God for Governor Mike Sonko and EALA MP Simon Mbugua for securing the release of our brother Don Bosco Gichana," read Omanga's message.
For the last 5 years, Gichana, a renowned political operative, has remained in detention over alleged fraud and money laundering in a Tanzanian jail.
But a good Samaritan, working directly from the office of opposition leader Raila Odinga, Ms Olivia popularly known as Kbz Nyar Kisii, has confirmed otherwise leading to fierce criticism on Omanga.
"I want to confirm that Don Bosco is in jail and I am currently in Arusha. Kindly ignore the rumours being spread by Senator Omanga," she wrote.
Social media users would later descend on Omanga, who is yet to make a clarification on her message.
"It is sad that oven leaders can mislead people over Don Bosco. She ought to apologise for misleading us," wrote Elijah Saboke on Facebook.
In 2016, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, was among the Kenyan delegation that visited Tanzania but failed to secure for Bosco's release.
