A message from nominated senator Millicent Omanga over the release of detained Kenyan businessman Don Bosco Gichana caused joy across Kisii albeit for hours.
On her Facebook account, Omanga, who hails from Nyamira, broke news about the release of Mr. Gichana, who has been in Arusha prison for the last five years.
"We thank God for Governor Mike Sonko and EALA MP Simon Mbugua who have come to the rescue of our son Don Bosco Gichana who has been in jail for five years," she wrote.
The good news spread like bush fire across social media platforms with various users across Gusii hailing Sonko for the good work.
For the last five years, Bosco, a close confidant of Raila Odinga and William Ruto, has been languishing in Tanzania over alleged fraud and money laundering.
"If in deed he has been released, this is great news to the Abagusii community. We thank God for these favours," said Douglas Oindo.
But multiple sources indicates that despite Omanga's message, Don Bosco continues to languish in the Tanzanian jail.
Last month, Raila launched a secret mission over the release of Bosco but despite his close ties with President John Pombe, the mission still remains unaccomplished.
