Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo has criticised her ODM party for conducting shambolic nominations, which saw many losers declared winners. In a long Facebook post on her page, the MP faulted the Raila Odinga-led party for orchestrating ‘unfair primaries’, which led to the killing of her bodyguard and her house burned down. “It is a fact that party primaries were not conducted well. Even though I won, it was a fight and I was not happy with the process,” she wrote. “I lost my bodyguard, my house was torched and several of my supporters beaten,” she continued.Despite being a passionate supporter of Raila Odinga, there were threats on her life during the ODM primaries, which many party insiders have confessed were rigged. The lawmaker revealed that many ODM aspirants, who are now independent candidates, are very angry with Raila Odinga and the party for favouring some candidates. “I have spoken to many (ODM aspirants) who were not as lucky. There is a lot of anger over the process,” she wrote. In the comments section, her supporters were surprised to learn that despite her staunch support for the NASA presidential flag-bearer, she received such bad treatment during the primaries. Ms Odhiambo went to great lengths, some of which made many neutrals call her ‘mad’ to abuse President Uhuru Kenyatta late last year just to please Raila Odinga. She wrote that Raila Odinga is likely to suffer the consequences of not conducting fair primaries, as the ODM aspirants who lost unfairly in the NASA strongholds have not come out to declare their support for the coalition. Independent candidates who tried seeking the Jubilee ticket and lost have formed their own union and endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta for re-election on August 8, 2017.
