A house belonging to Mbita Member of Parliament, Millie Odhiambo, was torched just a day after she emerged the winner in the ODM primaries in the constituency.

The house which is located in Urianda village was set ablaze, Wednesday, morning by a mob, the Star reports.

The incident that left several households items like chairs, beddings and utensils has apparently been linked to political reasons.

Millie alleged the incident was done on purpose so as to frighten her, following her victory.

“It is true that my house has been destroyed by a mob that wanted to threaten and even kill me over political reasons,” Millie said.

“Earlier they intended to attack my vehicle at Koyani village but I evaded them after which they resorted to burning my house,” she added.

She said that a section of residents referred to her as an outsider for not being born in the village

“I was given that land by my sister but some of those people had been calling me a stranger. That is why they are looking at every means to harm me.”

Millie confirmed she has recorded a statement following the tragedy.

According to Homabay county police boss, investigations are going on.
