Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, Sicily Kariuki has asked the youths to avoid politicians who us them for selfish political gains.
Speaking at Afraha Stadium during the International Youths Conference in Nakuru, Kariuki asked the youths to take advantage of the youths’ kitty to start projects.
“The constitution allows the youths to access 30 per cent of the budgetary allocation but many youths do not apply. We urge youths with registered companies to apply,,” the CS said.
Kariuki further asked the youths to apply for loans through the Youths Enterprise Fund saying that the security terms are considerable.
“If you have a registered company and you are in need of funds, the youths fund is there to boost you. I have asked them to process the loans as fast as the commercial banks and reduce the security requirement for the loan since many youths don’t have title deed or log books,” Kariuki said.
She lauded the National Youth Service over its work.
“The NYS has made our youths active and also provide them with their daily bread. My ministry through the office of the president is willing to support more youths to curb unemployment,” Kariuki added.
Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament asked the CS to ensure that there is no gender discrimination in awarding tenders as ladies have been left out in key projects.
“We are requesting that you help the ladies who have always been discriminated in awarding tenders for the AGPO. Some also complain of delayed payment after supplying the goods and we are requesting you to consider those complaints,” Gikaria said.
Kariuki condemned gender based violence and asked married youths to maintain peace in their marriages.
