Gender and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has hit out at those criticizing her for campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee administration.

This comes at a time when Cabinet Secretaries have come under sharp criticism especially from the members of the opposition for enganging in politics.

However, Kariuki who was speaking in Kwale on Wednesday when she presided over the rolling out of projects for new NYS cohorts drawn from Kinango and Matuga, said they are only enlightening Kenyans on the government's development projects.

The CS further said that despite the expectations of political neutrality from them (Cabinet Secretaries), the constitution does not bar them from expressing their opinions.

While cautioning politicians to keep off NYS affairs, the CS said her ministry will remain committed to transforming the lives of the youth by rolling out various projects through NYS which has of late become a subject of political debates.

The CS was accompanied by Kwale Women Representative Zainabu Chidzuga.​
