Machakos County Minister of Health and Emergency Services Naomi Mutie has called upon doctors and nurses working in Yatta Sub-County public hospitals to be patient as their salary dues will be paid soon.
Speaking on Friday evening outside her office in Machakos town, Mutie called upon the public servants to be patient stating that the national government had delayed sending the funds.
“I urge the public servants to be patient because eventually they will be paid. The delay is due to delay of funds from the national government to us,” she said
Mutie however assured the public servants that the ministry was getting funds from other avenues to ensure that their salary dues are paid as soon as possible.
She however blamed tension from the workers had been as a result of political incitement and warned leaders against politicizing the health sector that is critical because it deals with human life.
The minister further stated next week on Monday the health department would initiate a meeting to discuss the completion of payment dues to avoid any strike in the health sector in Yatta Sub-County hospitals.
These came a few hours after the public servants working in public hospitals in Yatta Sub-County threatened to go on strike due to unpaid February and March salaries.
