The Ministry of Education has praised Teso North sub-county for adhering to the transition rate to secondary school in girl-child education.
According to the preliminary report released on Wednesday by the County Quality Assurance and Standards Officer Joseph Ocheng, Teso North registered more girls than boys for this year's KCSE exams.
The sub-county registered 943 girls for the exams compared to 899 boys.
Bunyala sub-county had the least number of girls at 266 with 411 boy while Matayos registered 874 boys and 723 girls.
Butula on the other hand registered 1,030 boys and 733 girls while Nambale (952 boys 513 girls), Samia (693 boys 631 girls) and Teso South (803 girls and 688 girls).
Ocheng said the total percentage of boys to girls sitting for the exams is 56 to 44 compared to KCPE's 49.8 percent for boys and 50.2 percent for girls.
Teso North, Samia, Nambale and Matayos sub-counties had more boys than girls who sat for this year's KCPE.
Ocheng said this year's KCPE was incident free with a total of 20,924 candidates sitting for the exams.
The CQASO said there were isolated incidents in KCSE exam centres.
One candidate from Kakemer Secondary is sitting for the exams while in police custody in Teso North.
He said one candidate from St Mathias Busia Secondary School sat for the exams in hospital but has since been discharged.
"Osieko Secondary in Bunyala South is across the lake- our furthest school is a challenge in transport and can be served from Bondo in Siaya County," the report said.
