Education committee for Nyaguta Secondary school in Kiogoro ward has hailed the move by the education ministry to disband the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) board over last year’s leakage of the national exams.
Led by the committee chairperson Samson Orwaru they termed the move by education CS Fred Matiang’i as bold, saying that it was the first step towards restoring the credibility of KNEC following rampant cases of cheating that saw the results of over 5000 candidates cancelled.
Speaking while holding their annual meeting at Nyaguta Secondary the chairperson also called on the investigations into the leakage to be extended to other officers suspected to have played a part in the same.
“Let the investigators also go the officers who were guarding places where the exams were stored since no one should be spared in the bid to clean up the mess at KNEC, everyone should carry their cross," said Orwaru.
The chairperson called for the prosecution of all those involved in the leakage scandal, saying that no one should be spared.
Matiang’i has since appointed a new board to sit at KNEC headed by former Nairobi University Vice-Chancellor, Professor George Magoha.
The new board has since suspended former CEO Joseph Kivilu who is facing probe over the exam leakage.
