Education Ministry has embarked on a programme to train Mathematics and Science teachers to improve their teaching skills and performance of learners.
According to Uasin Gishu County Director of Education Yusuf Jilo, the two subjects have been a challenge and are commonly feared subjects by students, therefore the need to train teachers to improve performances.
"The training will be a capacity building programme meant to strengthen their skills in teaching students who have a negative attitude towards the subject," he said.
Speaking after meeting Science teachers on Tuesday at Moi Girls High School, Jilo said that poor performance in Science and Mathematics is also blamed on poor teaching skills by teachers.
He said that the training will start on April 12 at Moi Girls High School, Eldoret, and will attract teachers from the region.
"We are expecting 195 participants from 22 schools in the region and the facilitators will be from the Ministry of Education," he said.
