A minor was on Monday arraigned before an Eldoret court where he was charged for defilement.
The minor is accused of defiling a 12-year-old girl at Jua Kali area, Turbo constituency in Uasin Gishu County on May 1 this year.
Appearing before Eldoret Principal Magistrate Harison Barasa, the suspect pleaded not guilty to the offense.
He was released on a Sh50,000 bond or be detained at the Eldoret Juvenile remand home if he fails to meet the bond terms.
The court further ordered that the suspect is taken to a Hospital for age assessment before the case proceeds.
“I hereby order that the accused should be taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for age assessment,” directed the Magistrate.
The suspect is expected to appear in court on May 21 for the mentioning of the case where the age assessment results are also expected to be provided to the court before further directions are made.
