A five-year-old boy was on Wednesday evening rushed to hospital, after he was hit by a motorbike in Nakuru town.
The six thirty incident attracted a large crowd at Mariakani Business centre, before they arrested the motorbike owner who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The boy’s mother, Winnie Nyambura said she was walking the nursery school kid down a footpath, when the rider, who was speeding on the potholed estate road wavered and hit the boy.
According to the mother, the boy sustained severe head injuries as a result of the accident.
“My son was walking beside me, and moved forward beside the road to avoid the speeding bike but the rider sped towards us at the foot path and hit him,” said the mother.
An eyewitness added that the motorbike rider had been drinking at a local pub, and was rushing to pick a client after receiving call.
The boy was rushed to the local Menengai Health Centre where he was treated and discharged, while the motorbike operator was arrested by irate members of the public and taken to Teachers police post.
