The Abakaile ward rep noted that sine his petition has been dismissed, he will now focus on improving lives of the residents.

Speaking after the ruling, Mr Ali thanked his family, friends and the people of Abakaile for their support throughout the petition.

“Following the ruling by the Court, it is now time to focus on delivering to the residents. I will embark soonest possible on how to deliver to my people.

“I am also ready to work with my worthy opponents in ensuring that services and programs meant for the people are delivered to them. At the county level, we will play our role of oversight and keep the executive in check and ensure that they operate within the law,” Ali stated.

Mr Ali's election had been challenged in court with the petition arguing that the poll was not conducted as stipulated in the constitution.

A Garissa court, however dismissed the petition citing lack of enough evidence.

"The petitioner failed to prove the case to required standards. His evidence was not enough to prove any irregularities during the election. He also sought to rely on evidence, not in his pleadings,” chief magistrate Cosmas Maundu stated in his ruling.
