Kisumu County nominated MCA, Farida Salim, has urged county clubs management not to allow persons under 18 years at night.
Addressing journalists on Friday in Kisumu town Salim said it is unconstitutional for minors to be in the clubs at night. This comes amidst reports of minors clubbing in some restaurants in the town.
“I am urging the management to heighten security and bar persons under 18 years from accessing the pubs at night,” said Salim.
The nominated MCA noted that school leavers were major victims. She urged parents to take their parental roles seriously through disciplining their children. Salim warned the club management of severe consequences if the trend continues.
“Persons below 18years should never be allowed in clubs, having them in clubs at night would make them get engaged in alcoholism,” noted Salim.
Her sentiment was echoed by Migosi MCA, Paul Achayo, who urged clubs management not to sell alcohol to persons under 18 years.
