Mirera Primary School in Naivasha sub-county was the place to be for the annual World Water Day celebrations on Tuesday where the national Water and Irrigation Ministry hosted the event.
Water Resources Management Authority regional manager Bernard Omuya through an invitation letter to the learning institution, said the area was selected because it resonated well with this year's theme of 'Water and Jobs'.
The area is known for its ability to churn out several water related jobs including irrigation, geothermal sector, flower farms, tourist lodges and agriculture all of which are the main economic activities that define Naivasha.
The event, however, came against the backdrop of an outbreak of cholera disease which continue to gain notoriety within the area, with areas around Lake Naivasha being the worst hit.
The World Water Day is marked every March 22.
