Mombasa Woman Representative Mishi Mboko has won the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket for Likoni parliamentary seat.

Mboko emerged winner after garnering 5,935 votes against his rival, Hamisi Domoko, who managed 3,294 votes.

Mboko said she was honoured with the results adding that the race has given her a chance to gauge herself for the August polls.

"I thank God that we managed to conduct our nominations here in Likoni peacefully. I know it was not an easy journey but finally I have seen the results of my sweat," she said at Likoni YWCA hall after being declared the winner.

Earlier, her opponent said he would not accept the results claiming Mboko was planning to rig the polls

He alleged that there were plans to rig him out, hence the exercise was not fairly conducted.

"The rigging today has damaged the image of ODM Party. I will not accept these results at all because we witnessed all tactics being done to ensure I am defeated. I have 24 hours from now and I will think of going as an independent candidate because one thing I am sure about is that I must be on the ballot," he said, as quoted by The Nation.

Mboko, however, dismissed the allegations saying Domoko had sensed defeat.
