Likoni MP Mishi Mboko has defended NASA leader Raila Odinga against attacks and criticism from a section of politicians in the coalition for meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday last week.
Speaking to journalists in Likoni Town on Sunday, Mboko said that Raila has no apology to make for meeting with President Kenyatta.
She said that those bashing him are not being realistic, adding that the ODM party leader had every right to meet the president if he was invited for the meeting.
"Raila Odinga did not make any mistake by agreeing to meeting Uhuru Kenyatta and I believe their meeting is what is needed more in the push for electoral reforms," she said as quoted by a local daily.
Mboko noted that by meeting President Kenyatta, Raila was creating room for negotiation's and dialogue on how the country should move forward.
The ODM MP also said that it was not mandatory for Raila to inform or brief his co-principals about the meeting.
"As it stands now we don't know how the meeting was planned and its conditions and we should stop bashing Raila for taking the step for dialogue and electoral reforms," she added.
Mboko called for calm among NASA principal's and supporters.
She said that the push for reforms should remain on course and that NASA politician's must commit to the reforms agenda.
President Uhuru Kenyatta's meeting with Raila on Friday last week continues to draw reactions with NASA co-principals, saying that they were not privy to the meeting.
On Saturday, Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi distanced NASA coalition from the Friday meeting.
Mudavadi said that Raila met Uhuru on his personal capacity and he was not representing NASA.
NASA principal's are expected to convene a summit meeting on Monday to discuss Uhuru-Raila meeting.
