The move followed public complaints over alleged attempted grabbing of the ground.

The two leaders said identity of those constructing the perimeter wall remains sketchy.

"Further, the said construction had no approval from the county government," said Nyale.

Mboko warned the alleged grabbers, saying Caltex grounds is one of the few remaining open and green spaces in Likoni that is used by the community for sporting, religious and many other social activities.

"From the onset of devolution, the County Government has been at the forefront of protecting public land and amenities from grabbers and will continue playing this public trustee role with the same vigour by defending and jealously protecting the rights of our residents and future generations as provided by the constitution," added Nyale.

The two leaders, accompanied by area residents, called on all residents to be keen and watchful and report any attempted grabbing or encroachment of any public property.
