Likoni MP Mishi Mboko has asked Babu Owino to stand firm and fight for his victory which the court snatched by nullifying his election.

Speaking at the Mombasa Law Courts on Friday, Mboko said that she is saddened by Babu’s petition loss.The ODM MP said Babu worked hard to be elected as Embakasi East MP in the August 8 election, adding that the court ruling that nullified his election was malicious.She said that the nullification of Babu’s victory is a slap in the face to electoral justice and reforms.The vocal lawmaker said Kenyans have to stand firm and confront such injustices.The MP said the country will continue to suffer with certain communities treated as lesser people if Kenyans do speak out.“Unless we speak in one voice and confront people who are keen on destroying this country, we will never taste the fruits of electoral fairness, transparency, and credibility,” said Mboko.Mboko asked Kenyans to stand with Babu and demand for justice.The High Court on Friday nullified Babu Owino’s election on grounds of widespread errors in the election process.High Court Judge John Sergon ordered for a fresh election and slapped the former University of Nairobi (UoN) student leader with a Sh5 million fine as costs of the petition.Babu Owino’s lawyers have vowed to appeal the ruling.
