Mombasa Women Representative Mishi Mboko has appealed to the ODM leadership in the county to ensure fairness prevails during the party nominations nominations in the Coast region scheduled for Saturday.
While asking the party to uphold the integrity of the exercise, Mboko who will face off with Hamisi Domoko for the ODM ticket in the Likoni parliamentary seat, said the incidences of alleged rigging witnessed during the Busia nominations should not be allowed in Mombasa.
"The nominations in Mombasa should be free, fair and transparent. Aspirants have spent a fortune leading up to these primaries. They need not to be turned into a sham," she said.
Mboko who was speaking in Likoni where she was pitching for her nomination asked the residents to come out in large numbers to exercise their democratic right .
The Women Rep allayed fears of intimidation ,saying the exercise will be conducted under tight security.
ODM nominations in all of the Coast counties except Taita Taveta were scheduled for April 19 before the party released a statement rescheduling the exercise for April 22.
