Likoni MP Mishi Mboko has dismissed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s threat on politicians pushing for secession.Mboko said secession is legally provided for in the constitution, adding that President Kenyatta cannot stop the movement.Speaking to journalists in Likoni Town on Monday, Mboko said Uhuru’s threat will not prevent them from pushing for separation.Mboko defended the secession calls being fronted by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho alongside other Coast politicians, saying self-rule is the way to go.She said the Coast and other regions in the country have nothing to celebrate about since independence.“We want to tell President Uhuru Kenyatta that he cannot stop what the constitution has outlined as legal,” she said.Mboko said Uhuru’s threats confirm that the region is not treated equally on matters resources and public funds.The vocal ODM MP said they are determined to ensure fairness and equality in resource distribution.She urged Coast residents and Kenyans to stand firm and demand what rightfully belongs to them. Mboko also defended NASA’s push for the creation of people’s assemblies, saying it is unstoppable.The MP said the assemblies will be the people’s voice in pushing for change.Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta sent a stern warning to politicians pushing for secession.The President said his administration will not tolerate politicians using secession to cause disunity among Kenyans.NASA has however maintained that secession is part of its plan apart from swearing-in Raila Odinga as the people’s president.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
