Likoni MP Mishi Mboko has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to guarantee NASA leaders and supporters of their security during Raila Odinga’s swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.Mboko said the event will be attended by millions of Kenyans and top dignitaries whose security has to be guaranteed.“We are asking Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure that there is adequate security for NASA leaders and supporters as they attend Raila's inauguration as the people’s president at Uhuru Park on Tuesday,” said Mboko during a briefing with journalists in Likoni on Sunday.Mboko said NASA leaders have written to the police asking them to provide security during the event which she said will be a turning point for the country. She rubbished the statement by Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome asking NASA leaders and supporters to keep off Uhuru Park, terming the warning as baseless. She said that police have no authority to prevent them from holding the event, arguing that it is well provided for in the constitution.“Nairobi police boss Koome should know that we are not afraid and our plan to swear in Raila will not be thwarted,” she said.On Sunday, Koome warned NASA leaders saying that they will not be allowed to access Uhuru Park on Tuesday.Koome said the opposition leaders had not booked the grounds, noting that park will remain closed to the public as earlier indicated.NASA has vowed to swear in Raila and Kalonzo at Uhuru Park even as the government terms the event illegal and highly treasonous.
