Mombasa Women Representative Mishi Mboko's son-in-law has been arrested over murder allegations. Tariq Twalib, 19, was arrested by police officers for allegedly being involved in the murder of a security guard identified as Peter Wanyika.Twalib was arrested on Wednesday by detectives from the Makupa police station for allegedly beating up the guard alongside six other gang members from Majengo and Old Town, causing his death.According to a source quoted by Baraka FM, Twalib questioned Wanyika on Wednesday morning after realising his wallet which had Sh1200 was missing, but the guard denied having seen it.It is alleged that Twalib then mobilized the other six suspects, who came to his home and beat up the guard. They then drove him to the Central police station where officers at the station told them to report the matter at the Makupa police station.Upon arrival at Makupa police station, the police asked them to take the watchman to Coast General Hospital for treatment as he had been critically injured, Baraka FM reports. The guard is reported to have died en route to the hospital.Confirming the incident, Mombasa police boss Lucas Ogara said security officers are still looking for the other suspects.“What I understand is that the deceased was guarding one of the houses in the area. The suspect in custody accused the watchman of colluding with robbers who broke into his house and attacked him. He died as he was being taken to hospital,” said Ogara, as quoted by the daily.Twalib was recently married to Mboko’s daughter Hafidha Wakesho.
