Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko has proposed for community action in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse in her constituency. The vocal MP who recently scoffed at the police in the area for laxity and corruption in the fight against drug abuse said community action was the best available way that would be used to curb drug trafficking and abuse among the youth.Speaking at Likoni on Saturday, Mboko urged locals to unite and conduct door-to-door operation aimed at netting drug traffickers. She said if the community action plan is embraced, the vice will be contained as majority of the individuals involved are well known among the locals."This plan is not related to the one in Kisauni where suspects were killed but since the traffickers are well known, we will go to their homes and camp right their until we trigger action from government security agencies," Mboko said while addressing a community forum at Likoni."This problem will only be solved if we as the community launch voluntary community action against all those rendering our children useless by selling them drugs," she added. The MP further challenged parents to embrace her proposals and see how best it can be implemented especially in areas like Mtongwe that have been witnessing high cases of drug abuse among the youth subsequently leading to insecurity.
