The Machakos County Women Representative Dr Susan Musyoka among other Machakos women leaders have suggested a repetition of Miss tourism following complaints of unfairness in the exercise.
Speaking on Thursday in Machakos town, Dr Musyoka stated the exercise will be redone as the winner was found not be a resident of Machakos County.
"We want the selection nullified and our own very capable women who are versed with our culture selected to represent us even globally," said Musyoka.
This follows a win by Ms Karen Nkatha Muriithi who was crowned by the department Patron and Machakos First Lady Lillian Nganga on May 7.
The same was supported by the Chairlady of Charity of Mashinani Initiative Rita Ndunge who termed Machakos county as a hub of beautiful women who were capable of representing themselves.
"Our ladies are willing to showcase themselves and represent our rich culture, therefore, it's a big blow to them when another lady from a university in central Kenya gets their crown," said Ndunge.
The Chairman of Committee of Culture and tourism has stated he wasn't consulted during the activity but has promised to follow up on the same with Minister of Culture Larry Wambua to ensure the exercise is repeated.
