Miss World Kenya Nyamira County Mercy Mokeira has passed on.
The 23-year-old model, according to the Nation, died at North Kinangop Hospital where she was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed disease.
According to a close family member, the former Mokeira felt unwell in December last year and was taken to Kijabe Mission Hospital where she complained of muscle pains.
After receiving treatment, she got better and was discharged. In mid-January, she felt unwell and was taken to hospital.
At this time, she was fatigued and wouldn't do anything by herself. Her blood samples were sent to Nairobi for further tests.
She was put on medication until Saturday when she died at 11:30am.
Ms Mokeira was a law student at Kenyatta University who was expected to graduate in June this year.
