The 3 day search by Red Cross personnel, community policing officers and police officers on Monday evening came to a successful end after the body was found from one deep spot in the dam.

Confirming the incident the area chief Titus Mbuvi stated the night and day exercise that has been ongoing from Sunday afternoon had come to an end on Tuesday morning after experts retrieved the body.

“This is a really sad moment when we have lost a young promising boy but I thank all the people who cooperated in looking for the body tirelessly. The boy drowned after he came to the river together with four others on Sunday to clean his clothes since the water shortage has hit the area resulting in lack of piped water from the school,” said Mbuvi.

However Kaewa residents called on the government to intervene and fence the dam, as many accidents had been witnessed in the dam, several of them involving small children who accidentally slide and drown in it.

“We call upon the County minister of Transport, Roads and Public works George Kioko Luka to intervene urgently and build a perimeter fence around this water source that it will not be a threat to our lives anymore,” said Mbuvi.

The area residents have been called upon to report to the school administration immediately they see any students outside the School compound because it is not allowed according to the school rules.
