The body of a two-and-half year old girl identified as Ruth Waithira, has been found in a borehole near their homestead in Bureria, Kiambu County.
This is after the girl went missing five days ago.
According to the girl’s mother, it was around four on Saturday evening last week when the girl disappeared.
“I had just finished feeding her when I told her to go out and join her friends in playing as I warmed some tea for her. After a while, I went to call her but I did not find her, I asked the other kids where Ruth was and they told me they had not seen her,” said the distraught mother.
Speaking while mourning with the deceased girl’s family, area MCA James Njenga has asked the police to conduct further investigations saying that the way the girl died was mysterious.
“I have spoken to the OCPD of this area and he has promised me that a post mortem will be conducted to establish the actual cause of the girl’s death. I am very saddened by this death and hope the family will recover soon,” said Njenga.
The MCA revvealed that the family had approached him after the girl disappeared and he helped them put announcements on radio on Sunday.
