Yesterday, Mrs. Alice Nyamoita 40, who reportedly went missing in 1995 under anonymous circumstances, was given a standing ovation when she returned to her ancestral home.

The mother of two was allegedly kidnapped my unknown people when returning from a nearby market where she had gone to buy vegetables.

“My sister went missing several years ago. She had been sent by our mother to buy vegetables only never to be seen again. We reported the matter to the police but they failed to trace her for all these years”, said Mrs. Tabitha Ondieki, the first born daughter of the family of eight.

She said her sister was unable to attend funerals of their parents who died years later and according to Abagusii Culture, they had to perform certain rituals to welcome their lost sister home.

“Our mother died in 2005 while our father died perished in a fatal road accident a year later. We have gathered here to perform a ritual before she settles”, she added.

Ms. Nyamoita was visibly emotional and could not speak to the multitude but her sister confirmed that she escaped from her kidnappers before doing menial jobs in Nairobi for survival and later married a man from western Kenya.

“It is true that she escaped from her abductors and started working as a casual at different places in Nairobi. She later married her husband in 2003 with whom they have given birth to two children, a boy and a girl”, she confirmed.
