Dennis Munene, a law student at the University of Nairobi, has been found dead.
The 25 years old student went missing on May 9 under mysterious circumstances from Kasarani area.
Frantic efforts by his family to track his whereabouts proved futile as numerous calls to his phone went unanswered.
It was then that his sister Mercy Gichangi reported the matter at Ruaraka Police Station.
Police started tracking Mr Munene’s phone as his family resorted to searching for him in hospitals and mortuaries.
“We did not find him. But that Monday, the police told us that his mobile number had been last used in Mtwapa on Wednesday, May 9, before it was switched off," she said.
Distressed to find him, the family was sent to hospitals and mortuaries around Mombasa, and fortunately enough an attendant at the mortuary informed them of the presence of an identified body.
“Then we went to the Coast General mortuary, and the attendant informed us that he had seen the body of someone who fitted our description and on viewing him we discovered it was him," she added.
According to the mortuary, Munene's body was brought in by the police on Saturday, May 12, after it was found at Marina in Mtwapa.
The family is now demanding a thorough investigation to be launched to establish the real cause of Munene's death.
