Residents of Nyamarambe township in Kisii County were shocked on Monday morning after a body of a middle-aged man was found hanging in his door.
According to witnesses, Thomas Momanyi, 51, was found dead in his compound days after going missing from his rural home in Nyamarambe.
Mr Momanyi’s body was identified by his last born, Willis Momanyi, early in the morning hanged by a string on one of his houses, something that left many asking questions on the mystery surrounding his death.
However, according to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity due to sensitivity of the matter, the elderly Momanyi had quarreled with his wife, Vivian Momanyi, a week ago before he went missing.
“I can say authoritatively that Mr Momanyi was of sound health and had a quarrel over family issues with the wife and siblings. Since them he has gone missing without the family acknowledging that,” said the source.
However, the claims were squashed by young Willis Momanyi who said the family had never been involved in wrangles till the father passed on.
“I have heard rumors that my father and mother had quarreled. That isn’t true. We recorded a statement at Rongo police station and my mother had travelled to Kisii to inform CID officers,” he said.
