The body of a Njoro based plumber who had been reported missing over the Easter holiday was discovered yesterday.
The decomposing body was found by herders at a cave along Njoro River in Njokerio village near Egerton University. Njoro police boss Patrick Lai said that the man known as David Mutuga had been reported missing by his wife since had Saturday morning after he failed to return home on Friday night.
The police boss said that the plumber’s body was discovered by young boys who were playing from the caves adjacent Egerton University while attending to their families’ livestock. The boys alerted other villagers who reported the matter to the area sub-chief.
“We received information from the sub chief Leonard Kamau about a decomposing body of a man in a cave and contacted the woman who had reported about her missing husband. She accompanied us to the scene and identified the body as belonging to her husband,” said Lai.
The police boss added that the late plumber who lives at Biston estate along the river could have been overwhelmed by the flooded river while making his way home from a drinking spree.
Lai said that it was possibly why his body was trapped in the caves.
The body was taken to Nakuru County General Hospital Mortuary for post-mortem while police are still investigating the incident.
