A person who is newly recruited to work in an organization is always very excited. He might have searched for the job for a very long time. He might have gone through a rigorous interview. He might have even bribed his way. But the fact that he has been selected to join the organization may make him forget all the troubles he or she went through to get the job. The joy of knowing that his or name is on the payroll may override him or her. The following are silly mistakes new employees make;
Talking too much
Ideally, a new employee should take time to study the environment and the people around him. He should study the different characters of other colleagues. He should spend most of his free time listening to others. But some new employees do not value the virtue of listening. They talk too much. They reveal too many unnecessary secrets about them and their families.
Saying how much you earn
Most employers provide a confidential contract to each employee. A contract is a confidential document and thus it should be treated as such. Do not go around telling each and every colleague how much you earn. You can make a fool of yourself. You can also attract people with bad intentions who will wait for you in a dark corner and rob you of all your salary. Take time to choose friends. You are supposed to make friends with all your colleagues. But some companies are huge you cannot befriend everyone. You will only manage a small circle of friends.
Rushing to make friends
Some people are green snakes in a green grass. Take your sweet time and learn their characters. With time, you will even come to hear strange stories about other colleagues. Do not make early conclusions. Make your own judgment. True and good friends are hard to find so do not be in a hurry.
Being arrogant
The biggest mistake new employees make is to be arrogant especially if they come to realize that they are more qualified than other colleagues. Even if you are more learned than other colleagues or the boss seems to like you more than others, do not be arrogant. Do not think you are indispensable. Those who humble themselves will be lifted up.
