The decision by Kisii senator Chris Obure to chose Eng. Albert Nyaundi as his gubernatorial running mate has led to mixed reactions from among the residents.

Till his change of mind, Obure had been working closely with Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, who also made another unprecedented move by joining the race to oust Governor James Ongwae.

Dennis Mochama, a Kisii resident said the two have a 'better' chance of giving Ongwae a run for his money adding that they have experience in politics.

"It is a good combination because the two have been very active in politics. They are going to give Ongwae sleepless nights," he said.

"Obure is facing resistance from locals and I think he may not make it. The choice of running mate also affects him badly. Nyaundi has never won an election," said Joseph Omache.

Obure however, is expected to run against Maangi in Jubilee Party primaries later in March.
