There was mixed reactions in Eldoret town, Friday following a ruling by the Supreme Court nullifying the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Some of the residents expressed displeasure in the ruling saying they expected Presidential election results to be upheld.
They however said that they were ready to go back to the ballot to vote for their preferred candidate within 60 days as directed by the court.
"We feel so bad about this ruling. We didn't expect it to go this way because President Kenyatta won by a margin of over 1.4 million voters," said one of the Eldoret resident.
"We wanted to go back to work not politics again but as the court has directed we are very much ready to go back to the ballot," added another resident.
Others welcomed nullification of the election result noting that justice had finally been done.
"I congratulate the court for being bold enough to make such a landmark ruling. Today I've seen that one can get justice in our courts," said Kipkorir Menjo who was the National Super Alliance (NASA) North Rift Presidential campaign coordinator.
Eldoret is the capital of Uasin Gishu county which is home to Deputy President William Ruto and is considered a key Jubilee party stronghold.
The county has 450,055 voters in during the now nullified elections, President Kenyatta garnered over 300,000 votes with Raila Odinga receiving about 70,000.
