It was a moment of joy after the long-anticipated World Cup 2018 kicked off with Russian thrashing Saudi Arabi 5-0 in the opening game on Thursday.
Moi University students had taken their seats two hours to the start of the first game but it is not the five goals that caught their attention; it was Saudi Arabian defender Osama Hawsawi.
The defender reminded students of the infamous Osama bin Laden, the founder and first leader of the Islamist group Al-Qaeda who was killed in Pakistan on May 2, 2011, by United States Navy SEALs.
Here is a selected reaction from students in the Kesses-based university after they spotted Osama.
"Osama na kazi...Russia will face the music today, Osama never engages in negotiation and am fully supporting Saudi Arabia to win," Chumba said.
"I expect Saudi to win the game because they have a 'powerful' individual, Osama who is more than ready to thrash Russia in their home soil," Kimani noted.
"This is a sure game of Saudi Arabia to win with the support of Osama who is capable of defending," said Victor.
However, some of them compared the Arabian star to the once most wanted man in the world who was later killed by US Navy Seals, Osama Bin Laden.
"Mi sitaki World cup kama Osama ako...it is shocking that he his still alive," Mutemi commented.
"Is it World Cup or World war? With Osama, I doubt it is a world cup," Peter posted.
The Russian team later emerged the winners after bagging five goals meaning that the host nation has never lost their opening match in any of the 21 editions of the FIFA World Cup.
