Opposition leader Raila Odinga earlier today met former President Mwai Kibaki at his Muthaiga Home in Nairobi.
It is still unclear what the two leaders discussed but reports indicate that it may be linked to the recent unity pact signed between Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The meeting comes barely a week after the former Premier traveled to Baringo where he visited former President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi.
The meeting between Odinga and Kibaki elicited mixed reactions among Kisumu residents.
Here are some of the reactions:
“I am not in support at all of the meeting between Raila and Kibaki. He abandoned us at the hour of need in 2013 and cannot be trusted,” said Bildard Okoyo.
“I don’t know what Baba is still looking for in a political traitor. He has cost us the presidency twice by betraying us. He did not want Raila to lead in 2013 after him and definitely not now,” stated Veronicah Amondi.
“You should trade slowly. The meeting with Moi is much better since the Kalenjin community can support another community but not the Mount Kenya region. They never vote for anybody else apart from their own,” noted Justus Timbo.
“This is a sign that Raila will be in the ballot in 2022. He has been meeting former presidents to streamline his presidential ambition,” said Jane Oketch.
“It is a good idea to gather wisdom from the former president but be cautious about the advice for once bitten twice shy,” Mercy Agatha stated.
