Mixed reactions have emerged among residents of Matungulu sub-county concerning the 'No case to answer' verdict by ICC on Deputy president William Ruto and former journalist Joshua Sang.
In a unanimous interview with some of the residents, some supported the verdict saying that now the country can focus on going forward as others showed their dissatisfaction over the verdict hinting that the victims of the post-election violence may never get justice.
"The verdict was anxiously awaited and we are glad it was positive, it's a good thing William Ruto and Sang are free now and soon will forget the nightmare that befell them," said Morris Mulei a barber in Tala town.
"The PEV was never planned by anybody, it just happened and the DP and Sang should not be made to shoulder a blame for something they never did," said Raymond Mwatu a bodaboda operator in Nguluni market.
However, Mercy Kyule a saloonist in Kisukioni area thought that the verdict was not fair considering the victims who are still in camps and languishing in poverty hoping justice will come their way.
"We have not forgotten about the post-election violence, if no one was prosecuted among all the suspects that had been named, then who will pay for the 2007 skirmishes?" wondered Kyule.
