The donation is meant for school fees support for needy students in the county.

Speaking when presenting a cheque to Kisii Governor James Ongwae at the university's newly launched Kisii campus, Gicharu clarified that the donation was part of the university's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) directed towards improvement of education standards in the region.

Appreciating the donation, Ongwae commended Prof Gicharu for the positive gesture in addressing challenges facing needy students in the communities to access and complete their education as their peers from financially endowed families.

"I congratulate Prof Gicharu for the donation. We have quite a number of needy students calling at our offices in need of school fees," stated Ongwae.

Ongwae assured Gicharu that the donation was timely and will boost the county bursary kitty to support needy and deserving students who lacked school fees to support continuation and completion of their education.

The governor however called for fair distribution of ward bursaries and CDF bursaries to ensure all needy students are taken care of to continue and complete their education without failure.

"I am challenging all MCAs from the 45 wards in Kisii County to ensure no beneficiary of the CDF education bursary or ward bursary again benefits from either of the bursaries before the other applicants benefit from any of the kitty," warned Ongwae.
