Mount Kenya University (MKU) Chairman Dr Simon Gicharu has urged Kenyans to work hard to achieve their dreams instead of using shortcuts.
Speaking at Ruiru Golf Club on Tuesday when he awarded medals to the winners of a golf competition that had been sponsored by the university, Gicharu noted that corruption has increased in the country lately because many do not want to work hard.
He said that corruption ends up shattering the dreams of many potential achievers as well as undermining the country's economy.
“The problem with many Kenyans today is that they do not want to work but they want results and good ones for that matter. We want to take the shortest route to reach our dreams and that is why the level of corruption in Kenya is where it is now,” said Gicharu who is also a renowned businessman.
He advised the youths especially to stay focused on their goals and remain patient.
“You do not have to be involved in so many things like stealing to make it in life. Just pursue your dreams and you will be the best in the world,” he said.
