The meeting, on Saturday, was attended by representatives from all campuses.

Union president Marvin Kimathi said that they are looking for the best way to get involved in activities with other universities.

“We have to be involved in activities of other big universities and also set a pace for other smaller institutions in terms of maintaining peace and harmonious living within the institution. We also have to show the solidarity in collective bargaining while lobbying for the students’ rights,” Kimathi said.

He added that the union is determined to raise leaders from the few members of the students union elected democratically by their fellow students to lead them in their university undertakings.

Kimathi was optimistic about making a difference in the Kenyan politics and governance.

He added:  “We will make sure that MKU becomes a university to be emulated by others in the country. Every student will be willing to study in the institution.”
