Police in Mlolongo in Mavoko sub-county are hunting for suspects who stole two donkeys and later slaughtered them in another area.
Confirming the incident, Mlolongo location chief David Kilonzo said the suspects whose number has not been identified, were armed with knives and pangas when they stole the donkeys on Friday night.
Nevertheless, Kilonzo disclosed that after thorough search for the animals without success, carcasses (intestines and bones) of the animals were found at a roadside in one forests in the area.
The administrator warned residents to be careful while buying meat from local butcheries as they could be consuming donkey meat unknowingly.
He also assured residents that the police are doing everything to ensure the suspects are apprehended and prosecuted.
