The school was closed after the single storey building that houses the entire school comprising 23 classes, hall, staff room, washrooms, head teacher and two deputy head teachers offices developed serious cracks last week.

In a letter seen dated March 23, the ministry indicated that the building should not be used until suitability of the same building is ascertained by relevant authorities.

KeNHA representative Charles Njogu on Monday ordered the building condoned where he forced out teachers, head teacher, education officials, parents and media out of the school compound.

Led by the Machakos County commissioner Matilda Sakwa, county security team, education officials, KeNHA engineers, head teacher, Mavoko MP representatives, BOG and PTA officials conducted an inspection on the building on Monday.,

Addressing the press in the school compound shortly after the inspection, Sakwa said the school had been indefinitely closed.

She said KeNHA engineers who constructed the building had taken over and were assessing the situation.

"The engineers are still conducting assessment, they have assured us that the building is safe, " Sakwa said.

The commissioner said they were giving the engineers time to assess the entire building to see whether it is repairable.

She said class eight candidates will report to School tomorrow (Tuesday) as others pupils stay at home until KeNHA engineers table their assessment report on Wednesday next week.

"The school is temporarily closed, class eight pupils to report to school tomorrow. We will know the fate of other pupils in due course," Sakwa said.

Sakwa said KeNHA will construct temporary structures to be used by the pupils as the single storey building issues were being resolved.
