Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) has received science equipment valued at Sh225 million from the African Development Bank in a bid to boost the education standards in the institution.
The modern vacuum-coating gadgets will be applied for professional training of students in the university as well as other universities in the region.
Speaking during the presentation of the equipment to the university, George Manyali, the lecturer who is in charge of post-graduate studies, the university has made history by becoming the first higher learning institution in the entire nation to have such machines in their laboratories for students learning.
"The equipment will help us, as we strive to produce quality graduates to meet market and other professional requirements," said Dr. Manyali, as quoted by The Standard.
He also said the university aims at producing students who are not only skilled but also sklled to fit with the competitive job market.
"As a university, we have to compete favorably. We cannot compete with other universities if we lack equipment, therefore, receiving these machines is a milestone towards achieving our mandate as a department," he said.
MMUST is considered among the best institutions of higher learning not only in the Western region but also the entire nation.
