Police in Nyamira South sub-county are investigating an incident where a mob lynched a man suspected to have killed his brother over a land dispute.
The Tuesday morning incident happened at Nyabite market in the outskirts of Nyamira town.
Nyamira County police commander Titus Ndung'u said the deceased was under investigation after residents claimed he murdered his brother over a land row two weeks ago.
"We have been investigating the matter and it's unfortunate that he was killed before we compiled our report," said Ndung'u.
He said residents descended on him after he was released from police cells.
"His file had been opened and police were building up a case against him before he was killed by a mob yesterday morning," added Ndung'u.
