Kilonzo Muia, a resident of Kathiani, was accused of snatching a phone from a woman at Matetani market. The man was saved by members of the Kathiani community policing.

Matetani village sub chief Bethwel King’ele condemned the public for taking the law into their hands. He at the same time urged the youths to desist from engaging in crime.

“It is against the constitution of Kenya to take the law into your own hands. Instead, hand over the suspect to the police. However, for those engaging in crime, your forty days will soon be over,” said King’ele.

King’ele further stated that the suspect was injured and had severe wounds from the beating so he had been rushed to Kangundo hospital for treatment after which he will be taken to court to face the theft charges.
