Chairman Kanga said that most residents were unaware of the party registration that is open to all residents and challenged leaders to start sensitising locals about the same activity as a way of preparing for the next general election.

Speaking to Journalists at Kisumu Social Hall on Thursday, Kanga urged the area MPs and the County government to ensure that all residents have their National Identity cards which he said will help them have ODM Party membership.

He explained that with the Party membership, the residents will be able to take part in party nominations and election of certain key party officials and to elect leaders of their own choice.

“I appeal to the seven MPs together with Women Representative Rose Nyamunga, area MCAs and other politicians from Kisumu County to rally behind this move as this is the only way we can bring change and development within the party,” urged Chairman Kanga.

Kanga asked the county residents to collect their already processed ID cards from the Huduma Kenya Centres and challenged those who do not have to apply for the same to enable them register as party members.

At the same time Kanga warned area leaders against non-observance of party’s code of conduct saying that they risk being expelled from the party saying, “Once one is an ODM leader, they must just follow the set rules and regulations. There is no bargain about that.”
