Mochama noted that for the first time since the inception of devolution, the county government has set aside funds for bursaries and urged the Governor John Nyagarama-led administration to prioritise orphans in the disbursement of the funds.

He also asked the county government to hasten the release of the monies as schools reopen for the first term in the 2017 academic calendar.

Mochama gave out Sh650,000 as bursaries to students who excelled in the 2016 KCPE exams and are set to join Form One.

Mochama made the remarks in Nyamira town on Sunday.
